A2 widening starts on August 18 – how to avoid delays
The A2 between the Kerensheide and Het Vonderen interchanges is being widened. Rijkswaterstaat will be working on the road between Echt-Susteren and Sittard-Geleen from August 18, 2025, until the end of 2029. As a result, you may experience some inconvenience. Once the work is completed, traffic on the A2 will flow smoothly again.
What will you notice on the road – and what can you do?
Starting August 18, 2025, a speed limit of 90 km/h will apply on this section.
The A2 will remain open, but some disruption is unavoidable. However, by preparing your trip in advance, you can minimize delays.
Weekend closures – be prepared
Several weekend closures are planned for the construction work. Roads around the A2 may also be temporarily closed. These closures will cause significant disruption and detours.
Spending a weekend in Limburg?
Consider extending your stay and traveling before 9:00 PM on Friday or after 5:00 AM on Monday to avoid peak congestion.
